What will you do:

You will be in charge of the day-to-day functions of the department, serving as a liaison between employees and management in several HR areas:

Employee Relations and performance management:

  • Partner with our leadership team to communicate various HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and management to address questions or concerns.
  • Conduct investigations into alleged discrimination, employee relation, and ethical issues as needed; recommend and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide management with direction and counseling to resolve employee relations issues
  • Administer employee rewards and recognition programs.
  • Support the annual goal and performance evaluation process and, as needed, performance improvement plan (PIP) process.
  • Manage the annual performance and merit increase process.
  • Coach leadership on issues including application of HR policies and processes, restructuring, and complex employee issues. May coach employees on people management, career development, personal leadership, etc.
  • Advise employees on career development, interpretation of company policies, and other aspects of the employment relationship.

 Employment:

  • Keep records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.
  • Work with management for employee exit strategies, and prepare employee separation letters and related documentation
  • Represent the organization at unemployment and workers compensation hearings and investigations.
  • Be familiar with FMLA, Worker’s Comp, STD and LTD laws.

Compensation and Benefits Administration:

  • Manage organizational compensation ensuring that pay, rewards and benefits are in support of organizational objectives, and are managed competitively against identified external competitors for key positions.
  • Administer all benefit plans including enrollment, record-keeping, resolving employee benefit issues, compliance testing, and verifying bills. Administer COBRA and FMLA as well.

HR Compliance:

  • Maintain knowledge of legal Federal and State requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Continuously update company policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning:

  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Source talent both internally and externally, and propose creative solutions to leadership to address talent gaps.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for assigned roles including job description creation, pre-employment testing when applicable, etc.

Payroll:

  • Practical knowledge and hands-on experience with payroll (processing, generating reports, monitoring and tracking data, deductions and adjustments, auditing payroll register, etc) 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
  • Broad generalist background including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, as well as compensation and benefits.
  • Comprehensive knowledge local, state and federal employment laws.
  • Payroll processing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ethical conduct and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits programs such as Health/ Dental, retirement plans, etc.
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy, fast growing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve employee morale.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful, demonstrate business acumen, creative thinking skills and be able to act as a decision maker.

Optional:

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP credential are a plus
